Life Log - Account and Data Deletion

Effective Date: October 15, 2026
Last Updated: October 15, 2026

Life Log is published by WagDev LLC. This page explains how to delete a Life Log account and the data attached to it, what deletion actually removes, and what is kept afterwards. You do not need to install the app to read it or to make a request.

1. How to request deletion

You have two routes. Either one results in the same deletion.

1.1 In the app

  1. Open Life Log
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Tap Account
  4. Tap Delete Account and confirm

The deletion runs immediately. It is permanent and cannot be undone.

There is also a Delete All Data option in Settings. That one clears the entries on the device you are holding without closing your account, which is useful on a shared or handed-down phone. It is not an account deletion.

1.2 By email, with no app installed

Email privacy@wag.dev from the address your Life Log account uses and ask us to delete the account. We reply within 3 business days. We will ask you to confirm from that address before anything is deleted, because the request is irreversible and we need to know it came from you.

If you cannot reach the mailbox your account uses, say so in your message and we will work out another way to verify that the account is yours.

2. What deletion removes

Deleting your account destroys the encryption key that protects your content first. From that moment, every synced copy of your entry text is unreadable to anyone, ourselves included. The records are then deleted outright:

Data What happens
Entry titles, descriptions and tags Encryption key destroyed, then the records deleted
Entry dates, moods, categories and category names Deleted
Your profile, including display name Deleted
App preferences and sync records Deleted
Your live subscription record Deleted
Your sign-in account and credentials Deleted from Firebase Authentication
Shared logs you own, where you are the only owner Deleted, along with their entries
Shared logs owned by someone else You are removed as a member, and that log's encryption key is replaced so your departure takes effect on it
Entries on your own device Removed with the app's data when you uninstall, or immediately via Settings, then Delete All Data

3. What is kept, and for how long

We keep a small amount of data after an account is deleted. Each item is here because the law or our security obligations require it, and none of it contains anything you wrote.

Data kept Why How long
Consent records: which version of each policy you accepted, and when Evidence that we obtained consent before processing your data Retained
Key-management audit log: that a key was created or destroyed, and why Security compliance. It never contains your content. 2 years
Subscription and billing event history Billing, accounting and tax obligations Retained as required by law
Your contributions to a shared log owned by someone else They are that group's record as much as yours, and we cannot remove them without destroying another person's data Retained by that log
Crash and error reports already sent to our diagnostics provider They were sent before you asked us to delete, and are not individually recallable Our provider's retention schedule, currently 90 days
Payment records held by Apple or Google They are the store's records, not ours Per that store's policy

4. Deleting a single entry is different

Deleting one entry is not the same operation as deleting your account, and the difference is worth stating plainly.

A deleted entry leaves the app at once. If you are on Life Log Plus, where your entries are synced, the copy in our cloud is marked as deleted rather than erased on the spot. That marker is what tells your other devices and your fellow shared-log members that the entry is gone; without it, a device that was offline would simply put the entry back. While the marker is in place, the record still holds the encrypted text from the last time it synced.

That record is then purged automatically 180 days after you delete the entry, by a retention rule on our database, and the copy on each of your devices is cleared after 90 days. If you delete your whole account in the meantime, the key destruction in Section 2 makes anything still waiting to be purged unreadable immediately.

On the free tier none of this applies: your entries never leave your device, so there is nothing of yours in our cloud to mark or to purge.

5. What we never had in the first place

Life Log collects less than most apps, so some things cannot be deleted because they were never collected:

The Life Log Privacy Policy Supplement sets all of this out in detail, and Section 10 of it explains exactly what our encryption does and does not protect against.
